# RWW Live Special: 2008 Year in Review (Updated With Audio)

Joining host [Sean Ammirati](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://readwritetalk.com/about/) were [Marshall Kirkpatrick](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://www.readwriteweb.com/about_marshall.php), [Sarah Perez](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://www.readwriteweb.com/about_sarah.php) and [Richard MacManus](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://www.readwriteweb.com/about_richard.php) from ReadWriteWeb. We had two special guests who joined the call while we were live: [Allen Stern of Center Networks](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://www.centernetworks.com/) and [Kevin Marks](https://web.archive.org/web/20090115202806/http://epeus.blogspot.com/) of Google. In the call we discussed the highlights of 2008: the top Web companies, the biggest technology trends – including an especially good conversation on open versus closed systems – and finally some predictions for 2009.
