# AltSearchEngines and last100 Go Indie

![](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658im_/http://www.readwriteweb.com/images/ase_last100_logos.jpg)Admin announcement: ReadWriteWeb has made a strategic decision to disband our network, meaning that our two separately branded network blogs [AltSearchEngines](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://altsearchengines.com/) and [last100](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.last100.com/) are going independent.

The reason ReadWriteWeb has made this decision is to focus on **building and extending our core ReadWriteWeb brand.** The first fruits of this strategy were the [Enterprise Channel](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/enterprise/) ([launched in August](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/enterprise_20_nature_of_the_firm.php)) and our new [Jobwire](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.readwriteweb.com/jobwire/) product ([launched last week](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.readwriteweb.com/jobwire/2008/10/launching-jobwire.php)). We have more channels and products in the pipeline.

I will retain a personal stake in both AltSearchEngines and last100, but as of 1 November they are under the majority ownership of Charles Knight (AltSearchEngines) and Steve O’Hear (last100). I’d like to thank Charles and Steve for putting in so much effort to build up AltSearchEngines and last100 respectively. Both have done a great job covering their respective niches and we wish them all the best in continuing to grow the sites.

A note about [ReadWriteTalk](https://web.archive.org/web/20090108110658/http://www.readwritetalk.com/), our podcast show. As it was not a network blog, but an extension of ReadWriteWeb, it will continue to be part of our business. Sean Ammirati will continue to host the show.

Stay tuned for more channels and products under the ReadWriteWeb brand.
