# ReadWriteWeb Expands Silicon Forest Empire – Rick Turoczy Joins Us

![](https://web.archive.org/web/20090104152846im_/http://www.readwriteweb.com/images/rickt_75.jpg)Our newest writer started tonight, [Rick Turoczy](https://web.archive.org/web/20090104152846/http://www.readwriteweb.com/about_RickTuroczy.php) – who many of you will know from his tech blog [Silicon Florist](https://web.archive.org/web/20090104152846/http://siliconflorist.com/). Rick is yet another RWW writer who hails from Portland, Oregon, USA. Marshall Kirkpatrick and Frederic Lardinois are also from that city. According [to Wikipedia](https://web.archive.org/web/20090104152846/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Forest), Silicon Forest refers to “the cluster of high tech companies located in the Portland metropolitan area”. Obviously ReadWriteWeb deems it of strategic importance to have a dominant presence in Silicon Forest, in terms of tech bloggers.

Rick has helped Portland startups with traditional and Web-based communications activities for more than a dozen years. We welcome him to the [ReadWriteWeb team](https://web.archive.org/web/20090104152846/http://www.readwriteweb.com/about_readwriteweb.php), where he will be a daily news writer.
