# A Glitch in the Web Office Matrix

“Server Error

We’re sorry, but Gmail is temporarily unavailable. We’re currently working to fix the problem — please try logging in to your account in a few minutes.”

And 1 hour later…

“Server Error

We’re sorry, but Gmail is temporarily unavailable. We’re currently working to fix the problem — please try logging in to your account in a few minutes.”

The worst thing is, I am so dependent on Gmail that I can’t get most of the work on my checklist done until it comes back online.

**Update:**[the machine speaks…](https://web.archive.org/web/20120312203954/http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-help-alerts/browse_thread/thread/2486282fd77adb3b?hl=en)

“We are aware of a problem affecting a subset of our users. Our engineers are currently working to find a solution. We expect to have a fix as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

That was 5 hours ago! The latest message a few minutes ago was:

“We have identified the root of this problem and are still working as hard as we can to find a solution. We want to make sure you know that we haven’t forgotten you, and we sincerely apologize for the ongoing inconvenience.”

Grrrrrrr.
