[Yahoo! has bought upcoming.org](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063408/http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000193.html), Andy Baio’s events service:

Also announced today: [Newsgator’s acquisition of NetNewsWire](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063408/http://www.newsgator.com/news/archive.aspx?post=68). [Om mentioned](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063408/http://gigaom.com/2005/10/03/newsgator-buying-who-netnewswire/) that NetNewsWire was [one of my guesses](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063408/http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/002842.php) a week or so ago, but I must admit my bet was more of a long shot. Oh well, perhaps Newsgator will buy a blog search engine some other time 🙂
