# Web 2.0 Sampler

I’m making yet another attempt at a regular branded list of Web 2.0 links. Let me admit straight up that I’ve copied the following format from [Ypulse](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://ypulse.com/individual.php?entry=1616), Anastasia Goodstein’s excellent site that covers New Media for Generation Y. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, [as I have discovered](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.techcrunch.com/?p=64), so I thought it’s worth giving this a go on my blog.

![Mash-Ups Zollage](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230im_/http://www.readwriteweb.com/images/zollage.jpg)– [Mash-Ups the wild wild west of the Web](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/05_30/b3944108_mz063.htm?chan=tc) (pretty good business overview of Web 2.0 and Remix Culture – and don’t miss the slide show ‘Sampling the Web’s Best Mash-Ups’) – [Steve Rubel wants](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.micropersuasion.com/2005/07/dear_microsoft_.html) Microsoft to bet the company on Web 2.0 (in the comments, I pointed to [my own analysis of Microsoft and Web 2.0](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/002707.php) – in short, I think millions of Windows-run ‘devices’ will be their interface into Web 2.0) – [Om Malik gets cozy with Marc Andressen](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://gigaom.com/2005/07/15/meeting-marc-andressen/) (I like Marc’s point that new minds and new tech talents will grow in places “we would have never looked before”. right on!) – [Latest Harry Potter book digitally pirated within 12 hours](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4501) (a fully scanned + proofread ebook within 12 hours… I still don’t want to read it though) ([via waxy](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.waxy.org/links/)) – [More great Tim O’Reilly Web 2.0 quotes](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://radar.oreilly.com/archives/2005/07/things_i_didnt.html) (someone advised me recently that I need to work on my “pithy quotes”, if I’m to get any mainstream press coverage as an analyst – see Red Herring link below) – [RSS Goes Corporate](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=12664&hed=RSS%20Goes%20Corporate) (I gave some background info for this Red Herring article, but I don’t rate a mention) – [You can’t sell content online](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://napsterization.org/stories/archives/000486.html) (Mary Hodder says selling services that help manage data and content – such as filtering, search and aggregation – is where the money is) – [Charlie Wood forsees](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://globelogger.com/item.php?id=186) the rise of post-processing feed services, such as inserting ads into feeds. (what’s really interesting will be the non-advertising services. e.g. how about more remixing functionality) – [News Corp buys MySpace owner for $580 million](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/18/business/18cnd-newscorp.html?ex=1279339200) (I hadn’t realized that mainstream music groups like Black Eyed Peas and R.E.M. streamed their latest releases on [MySpace](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://myspace.com/)) – [ Does MySpace sale signal Web 2.0 peak?](https://web.archive.org/web/20060508063230/http://www.siliconbeat.com/entries/2005/07/18/web_20_peak_myspace_sells_for_580_million.html) (I agree with Adam Rifkin in the comments, it’s only just begun!)
