# C List blogger checks his stats

I admit it. I regularly check my stats at [Technorati](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://www.technorati.com/cosmos/links.html?rank=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fradio.weblogs.com%2F0105304%2F&sub=Get+Link+Cosmos) and [Blogshares](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://www.blogshares.com/blogs.php?blog=http%3A%2F%2Fradio.weblogs.com%2F0105304%2F), plus I do some search engine checks now and then. Everyone does it. I have to say I’m not exactly setting the world on fire in terms of popularity. I’m probably a ‘C List’ blogger at most 🙂

But I am noticing my Google popularity is increasing [for the phrase “Read/Write Web”](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://www.google.com/search?h=&h=&h=&h=&h=&h=&as_q=&s1=web&sec=www.google.com%2Fsearch&as_epq=%22read%2Fwrite+web%22&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&imgsz=&imgc=&archive=0&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_occt=any&as_ugroup=&as_usubject=&as_uauthors=&as_umsgid=&cr=&lr=&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_minmz=1&as_mindz=1&as_minyz=1995&as_maxmz=1&as_maxdz=1&as_maxyz=2003&newwindow=0&filtxt=Duplicates+Filter%3A&filter=1&safe=off&num=10&score=&num_quotes=3&price=under&price0=&price1=&price2=). I’m now at number 2 (as of this writing) and only Dan Gillmor’s weblog post titled “The Read-Write Web” is ahead of me. I haven’t been officially tracking this, but I do recall I was at number 5 a week or so ago, and buried in the back pages a month ago. So I’m moving up the charts.

I also found [a directory of Google API tools](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Google/Tools/). I like [GoogleDuel](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://www.sfu.ca/~gpeters/cgi-bin/pear/index.html), which pits two words or phrases against each other. I discovered that “two-way web” is 6 times more popular than the phrase “read/write web”. That is due to [Mr Winer’s influence](https://web.archive.org/web/20040306094804/http://www.thetwowayweb.com/). Also “browser/editor” is 6 times more popular than “universal canvas”…
